A : → Over the years when China entered the WTO there are a substantial number of cases of anti-dumping allegations against China's industrial exports by countries like the US, EU etc. Is there any estimate on the volume of these allegations and effects on trade? Is there any such allegations being revoked?

A : → An official of the China's Ministry of Commerce has estimated that anti-dumping charges against Chinese manufacturers by overseas countries totalled 500 at the end of 2002, costing China tens of billions of loss in direct exports. Citing international trade protectionism as the main motive for the charges, the official said the number of anti-dumping cases against China accounts for 14 percent of the world's total, ranking first in the world. The China's major gas lighter producers are probably the first industry to win an anti-dumping suit launched by their European counterparts since China joined the WTO. The said anti-dumping action against disposable lighters started in 2002, and was terminated in September 2003 after successful efforts by the gas lighter industry in the Mainland.
