Following in the footsteps of the European Union, a growing number of environmentally-conscious U.S. states have enacted or are seriously considering legislative action to both establish mandatory recycling programmes for electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and regulate the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic devices (RoHS).
