A : → The EU has from September 2003 adopted a Directive to prohibit the trading of clothing, footwear and other textile and leather articles which contain azo-dyes, from which aromatic amines may be derived. Details on EU members state legislations can be found by checking here.
Q : → I'm producing products in China for export to Europe. One of the products uses some materials that may be questionable for restriction of import to the European Union. How do I find out the exact material restrictions (environmental)? Also, we are producing premium leather goods. The leather is imported from Brazil and Italy, the product is completed in China then shipped to Europe. I know there is a restriction on leather articles which contain azo-dyes, but the tannery cannot give me a definite answer whether the leathers contain this. How would I find this out? Thanks in advance
