A : → If you arrange to bring goods into Australia via the internet, you are regarded as the importer of goods which are subject to customs control in the country. Some goods require permit for entry and some are prohibited under any circumstances. All goods excepting tobacco and alcohol may be imported fax free if their value is A$ 1000 or less. However it is important to note where there are multiple packages to the same addressee in Australia from a single consignor overseas that arrive at about the same time, then the value of all packages will be combined for duty and tax assessment purposes. Some goods commonly purchased over the Internet that are, or contain, restricted items may be detained or seized by Customs. these include, among others, ideos, DVDs, CDs and books/publications with objectionable or offensive content.

Q : → I plan to establish a web based store for the purchase and import of PS 3'3 and TVs etc. I would like to know or be given any information regarding the taxes etc and laws associated with such a process. Items would be ordered in Australia and shipped from China to Australia. Is a licence needed? Thank you
