A : → In order to promote the wider adoption of electronic commerce in the local trading community and to foster market competition, the Hong Kong Government has appointed Global e-Trading Services Limited (Ge-TS)as another service provider for Government Electronic Trading Services(GETS) starting from January 2004. Hence,local traders can choose from the parallel electronic trading services offered by Ge-TS along with Tradelink. Q : → My company is importing some roasted nuts such as almond and pistachio for wholesale and distributing in the local market. We only do it a few times in a year, and we know that the Customs Department has already dispensed with the manual declaration and replaced it with an electronic system. Please advise how we are going to lodge the declaration if we don’t have the electronic system?

A : → The Tradelink of Hong Kong has designed a package called ValuNet for importers and exporters to handle their trade declarations through internet. Traders can now submit their declarations through Tradelink to the Government using the ValuNet standard on internet software, in either Chinese or English language.
